Tax Day April 18? Why the extra 3 days?

Tax Day April 18? Why the extra 3 days?

You get three extra days to file your taxes this year. They’ll be due on Mon., April 18.

The bonus days come thanks to Emancipation Day, a little-known Washington, D.C., holiday that celebrates the freeing of slaves in the district. Emancipation Day falls on Sat., April 16, but it is observed in D.C. on Fri., April 15. That prompted the IRS to extend the tax filing deadline to April 18 this year.

Unfortunately, the extra 3 days are not true emancipation from a corrupt and deeply flawed tax system. No freedom from overspending and a massive deficit. These are all the realities we Americans are living with everyday.

That’s why so many are joining the Online Tax Revolt. We are demanding transformational tax reform, reduction in spending and control over the ever-growing deficit. Choose a presidential avatar to lead us to the biggest tax revolt in U.S. history on Tax Day, April 18.

Last year the Online Tax Revolt sponsored the largest tax revolt rally in U. S. history—more than 300,000 rallied in-person and online at Freedom Plaza between the White House and the Capitol on Pennsylvania Avenue. This year we are aiming to break that record with 500,000 or more—Join your Online Tax Revolt right here right now and help make tax revolt history again in 2011!
